The State of Games: April 2026

The new releases slowed slightly in April, but there were still some interesting success stories. Nintendo’s second Tomodachi Life game proved to be a real hit, while there was a big breakout new IP success in Pragmata.

In mobile, a couple of Arrows made it into the download charts, while video game movies scored big in the trailer department.

But it was a tougher month for game consoles, with few major releases and a big price rise for PS5.

In terms of PC and console games, the MAU chart is eerily familiar, but the US games chart from Circana (which features estimated digital sales for the first time), contains a number of new IP and a No.1 for Nintendo.
