December saw a last-minute surge in buyers in the US after a worrying few weeks, while the year ended in basically the same place it started. Let’s take a look.


The State of Games: December 2025

Things were looking quite anxious in the video game market during early December, particularly in the US. A disappointing Black Friday sales window continued into the start of the month as consumers waited to see if better prices could be found around hardware and software… but those lower prices never arrived. In the end, people did come out and buy games, but price is clearly a sensitive issue with consumers right now.
