On the lack of big tentpole Nintendo games, they seem to be doing a play of using the Switch 2's first year to uplift their modest sellers to stardom while MK World & PLZA hold the fort. It looks to be working for Donkey Kong via Bananza, & Nintendo's looking to do the same with Kirby Air Riders. But with those two in particular, they came at the cost of a 3D Mario (EPD 8 made Bananza) & a Smash (Sakurai is on Air Riders)......at least for the immediate future. Nintendo's making a big bet, especially for Kirby Air Riders. If it'll pay off is the question, especially when Nintendo has become more gunshy about announcing further-off games in recent years (likely a result of Bayonetta 3 & Metroid Prime 4's multiple delays). Though on that front, I feel that Nintendo has over-corrected a fair bit. But that's a whole other discussion.
I don’t think this is 4D chess. Nintendo just doesn’t have a big game ready for Switch 2 yet. If they had it they would surely have announced it by now. It’s simple as that.
Great news, as always! Love the incongruity of the remake/remaster numbers. As for the doom/gloom of video game engagement numbers, I do continue to think a lot has to do with the volume of games now available, especially as exclusives become less, and, the ability for people to access systems/games that have existed for years/decades increases AND live-service games that are ALSO communities continues to grow. Throw all that in a blender and what you're pouring out is a mishmash that isn't that surprising to me, especially if you step back and look at the "unintended consequences" of short-term profit chasing over long-term industry health. But that's all speculation on my part. 😉
Great to have Fire Emblem at last!

What I will say (and didn’t, really), Nintendo does tend to announce ‘late’. So this is just the next nine months.
Pokemon anniversary next year, too
