Great article and insightful interview. Also reminds me I need to get around to playing these games. I think I have It Takes Two in my game library!

The interview makes some excellent points, but Fares’s take on the supposed stagnation of AI lacks pragmatism. He’s right that AI can’t replace a developer’s creative intent, but he’s wrong to ignore how much these models have evolved technically. Midjourney’s progression from v1 to v6 has been monumental; we’ve gone from anatomical nightmares to an impressive level of consistency and photorealism. You can see this in the decline of "six-fingered hands" memes. As someone who follows this space closely, I can tell you: a lot of the photos you see on social media today are 100% synthetic. Without a deep technical dive, they’re almost indistinguishable from reality. I know, it’s scary, but it’s also an undeniable testament to how far these models have come.
