At 32:50 this is very true. If you want to learn more about being the underdog I recommend David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell.

One of the things he touches on is just this. To beat goliaths, we can’t play their game. With companies dumping so much money into a title it’s impossible to compete with them. No one will ever make a game near the popularity of AAA by dumping more money into it.

I’m curious then, what are your thoughts on what the Indie strategy should be? To me it is a matter of more attention to detail into what counts in the game (not just making content for the sake of more content) and being more able to innovate things that a company with such investment wouldn’t dare.

38:38. Experience may help you adapt but it doesn’t necessarily help you innovate. Sometimes seeing the task at hand with fresh, un-normed eyes is better than seeing the thing you’ve done time and time again.

It's more like 6 or 7, not 4, and they're governed by where and who the players are, not industry-convenient categories (for example Forever is more than a grouping for our convenience than anything player-centric). So for my money it's AAA, casual, indie, sports, casino, UGC (esp Roblox) and young kids.

This is an interesting one. What does Clair Obscur sit under?
