Hello, and welcome back to The Game Business Micro.

This is our little chat about the previous week’s big news stories. It’s supposed to be nice and concise, and gives you all you need for that Monday morning meeting.

Some weeks are chock full of stories to share and analyse. And other times, well, we need to get creative.

Last week was in-between the two. There were lots of small stories, but not many big ones. However, there is one I wanted to chat about… the retirement of Call of Duty and Dead Space legend Glen Schofield. We spoke to Schofield last year about his struggle to find funding for his next project, and I felt compelled to discuss the subject… and why I wish Schofield will change his mind.

Plus, Bethesda tries to convince us everything is fine after those Xbox lay-offs, there’s a bunch of appointment news, and GameStop insists it isn’t too bothered about PlayStation’s abandoning the disc.

In Brief: Dead Space creator and Call of Duty veteran Glen Schofield is retiring from making video games. In a video posted on LinkedIn, the video game executive thanked fans of his games: “You supported me, you invited my team’s games into your homes, you told me when I was good and you told me when I wasn’t so good, but you made me better.
