Build A Rocket Boy woes continue! Plus, US gamers don't buy many games - The Game Business Micro

And... 48% of gamers globally are women, a politically sensitive Assassin's Creed got cancelled and Minecraft returns to the big screen

Good morning. Welcome to another week in the hectic, unpredictable, stressful and (often) joyful world of the video game industry.

This is your weekly edition of The Game Business Micro, which is our paid subscriber-only Newsletter and Show that offers you a brief, but insightful, look at the biggest industry stories of the past week.

This week, we have two developments in the world of Assassin’s Creed, a whole bunch of US numbers, big player and sales landmarks for key titles, more trouble at Build A Rocket Boy, a VC bought a publisher and a new Minecraft movie coming. Let’s drive in.

Build A Rocket Boy faces legal action

In Brief: The Independent Workers of Great Britain has launched legal action against Build A Rocket Boy on behalf of staff who lost their jobs after the critical and commercial flop of MindsEye. In a complaint from 93 current and former employees, the firm was criticised for a lack of communication, “unbearable levels of overtime” and “disastrous” handling of redundancies.
